CHÂTEAU-LESTAGE-DARQUIER GRAND POUJEAUX BORDEAUX, FRANCE

Château Anthonic and Château Lestage-Darquier Grand Poujeaux are historic Moulis-en-Médoc estates unified under the Cordonnier family, who are prominent leaders in the agroforestry and regenerative farming movements. Château Anthonic traces its heritage to the 19th century and was acquired by Pierre Cordonnier in 1977, with his son, Jean-Baptiste, taking over management in 1993. As an agro-engineer, Jean-Baptiste pioneered the incorporation of nature into the vineyard, planting kilometers of trees among the vines to boost biodiversity, rehabilitate soil health, and combat climate change, earning organic certification by 2019. In 2022, Jean-Baptiste and his son Théophile expanded this meticulous strategy by purchasing the historic 10-hectare Château Lestage-Darquier from the Bernard family. They integrated 6.5 hectares of these vines into Château Anthonic to elevate its depth, while dedicating the remaining 3.5 hectares of premium old vines on the prestigious Grand Poujeaux plateau to forge a progressive, new top selection of prestige plots. Today, both labels are crafted side-by-side using progressive aging methods—including concrete and terracotta amphorae—that respect the raw personality of the soils.
