CHÂTEAU ROBIN BORDEAUX, FRANCE

Jerome Caillé and his family moved from the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean to the rolling hills of the Cotes de Castillon, Bordeaux—among the most beautiful spots in France. The place seems a world away from the merchants’ mecca of Bordeaux city, which is a scant hour to the west. Jerome and his family fell in love with Chateau Robin. They set about learning how to make wine, with a great deal of success. Their approach is similar to the small winemaking estates in the Loire and the hills of the Languedoc: A passionate dedication to terroir that produces wonderfully drinkable wine. As winemakers, they are more like the poets in the hills than the empire-builders to the west!
