DOMAINE DE L’IDYLLE SAVOIE, FRANCE
In 1840, François Tiollier bought the land, a treasure piece situated deep in the French Alps in the heart of the village of Cruet with one of the best terroirs of the Arbin cru. Perched between the mountains, lakes, and forests of this beautiful region; fruit trees and vines flourished there already. François added the mansion and christened his creation, Domaine de l’Idylle. Idylle means love story. The domaine was passed down the generations and bottled its first wine on site around the time of the second world war. In 1975, the next generation, brothers Philippe and François Tiollier, took charge and expanded the vineyard to its current size of 50 acres and devoted themselves exclusively to wine production. In 2011 Philippe’s eldest son, Sylvain Tiollier, joined the team to add a hint of modernity to the great traditions of Domaine de l’Idylle. Sylvain represents the 6th generation of winemakers on the estate. Respecting nature and tradition are the key values of their family run vineyard.
