BARONE CORNACCHIA ABRUZZO, ITALY

L’Azienda Agricola Barone Cornacchia has an ancient tradition that has its roots in the late 16th century, when the Cornacchia family received, by the then Viceroy of Naples, the baronial title, and the task of monitoring the vast estate. This area has always shown its suitability for viticulture because it is characterized by hills with excellent exposure, stony limestone soil and an ideal microclimate, thanks to its proximity to the Adriatic Sea and the chain of the Gran Sasso mountains in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. Baron Filippo Cornacchia started growing Montepucliano vines at the end of the 19th Century and is considered the pioneer in the aging and bottling of Montepulciano in Abruzzo. Today the company is led by brother and sister Filippo and Caterina Cornacchia.
