MONZIO COMPAGNONI LOMBARDIA, ITALY

Marcello Monzio Compagnoni’s family did not have a long history in wine. Marcello’s father was a winemaker and Marcello took over the estate when his father passed. He makes both Franciacorta and Valcalepio with single-minded passion. Franciacorta is justifiably regarded as the greatest Italian sparkling wine. Today, Monzio Compagnoni Azienda Agricola is considered one of the most dynamic wineries operating in the Franciacorta and Bergamasco wine sector. Monzio takes care of 50 acres of vineyards in Franciacorta and 35 acres in Valcalepio. He is advised by top-oenologist Donato Lanati.
