Francisco Ferreira (grandfather Pôpa) was the illegitimate son of a major wine producer from the Douro region. He lived a simple but happy life, even in the shadow of his father. A very charismatic person, known and respected by the people around him, his greatest dream was to be recognized and valued for his work and by his father. He never achieved this. Today, he is the inspiration for the Ferreira family: an exemplary father, creator of a fantastic legacy, the Pôpa family, with fundamental family values. His son Zeca has a true entrepreneurial and creative soul. His search for independence began very early in the vineyard, right after finishing the 4th grade. His father instilled in him work and resilience; life taught him to have courage. The journey was long and arduous. But after much effort, the acquisition of this property rejuvenated him, giving him the recognition that – as a child and in this same region – his father so longed for. Today, this Quinta is the materialization of this dream, which strengthens the legacy of the Pôpa family. Today, the winery is run by the 3rd generation Stéphane and Vanessa Ferreira, who have broken down barriers by creating a strong and recognized brand.
